Our CWP course addresses all of the training reuirements specified by SLED.   The Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and using a pistol safely.   The cost of our course is $120.00, plus a $50.00 application fee payable to SLED.  Each class is limited to 10 students.  The total length of our classes is 8-9 hours (6-7 hours of classroom training with an 1 - 2 hours of range qualification).  Classes are normally scheduled on weekends, but evening classes can be scheduled with a minimum of 5 students.  Call for more information on scheduling evening classes.

S.C. CWP Class Prerequisites

Prerequisites: 

(1)  Applicant must be at least twenty one years of age and not prohibited by state law from possessing the weapon; 

(2) complete and sign application;

(3)  provide one current full face color photograph, a copy of your driver's license will suffice; 

(4)  proof of residence or if the person is a qualified nonresident, proof of ownership of real property in this State;

(5)  proof of actual or corrected vision rated at 20/40 within six months of the date of application or, in the case of a person licensed to operate a motor vehicle in this State, presentation of a valid driver’s license;

(6) proof of training (provided at completion of the course);

(7)  payment of a fifty dollar application fee. This fee must be waived for disabled veterans and retired law enforcement officers (must be a certified check or money order payable to SLED); and

(8)  a complete set of fingerprints unless, because of a medical condition verified in writing by a licensed medical doctor, a complete set of fingerprints is impossible to submit. In lieu of the submission of fingerprints, the applicant must submit the written statement from a licensed medical doctor specifying the reason or reasons why the applicant’s fingerprints may not be taken. If all other qualifications are met, the Chief of SLED may waive the fingerprint requirements of this item. The statement of medical limitation must be attached to the copy of the application retained by SLED. A law enforcement agency may charge a fee not to exceed five dollars for fingerprinting an applicant.

Materials Required for Course:

1.  A completed finger print card (obtainable at local police departments or sheriff's departments)

2.  A safe and functional handgun (no single action revolvers).  Handgun should be in a protective case.  Do not bring loaded handgun to class.  

3.  A quality belt and strong-side holster, suitable for concealed carry;

4.  At least 100 rounds of ammunition;

5.  A cleaning kit suitable for firearm being used;

6.  Eye protection;, hearing protection, and a baseball type cap.

7.   A pen and notebook;

NOTE:  If you do not own a handgun prior to the course, we recommend that you use one of ours.  We will instruct you how to purchase a handgun that best suits your needs during the course. We can also provide belt, holster, eye and ear protection.  Please advise prior to attending the class.
